The Mansion

The Mansion of the Lopukhins, a cultural and historical monument of the XVII-XIX centuries, is located in the historical centre of Moscow, near the Kremlin, and is encircled by former estates of old Russian noble families of the Golitsyns, Dolgorukys, Vyazemskys. As a unique architectural monument of the capital, it is included into The Garland of Russian Estates and The Golden Ring of Moscow municipal cultural programmes.

The reconstruction of the «Red porch»

According to a resolution of Moscow municipal authorities, the premises of the Mansion of the Lopukhins were lent to the International Centre-Museum of the Roerichs, a non-governmental organization to which Svetoslav Nicholoevich Roerich had bequeathed the cultural heritage of his family. Pursuing its principle object of the preservation and popularization of the Roerichs' cultural heritage, the Centre-Museum has been carrying out reconstruction of the mansion. Under permission of Moscow municipal authorities, the work is financed by public donations. So far, the ICR has restored the mansion and its «Red porch», the outhouse, the historic fence of the mansion, and the engineering infrastructure of the complex; part of the outside territory has been improved.

According to the final plan of restoration and improvement of the territory of the cultural and historical monument of the XVII-XIX centuries «The Lopuhins' Town Estate», coordinated with the Committee of the cultural heritage of Moscow and calculated for 2020, The Charitable Foundation by name of Helena Roerich needs to finance following work in the near five years:

2006

  • The reconstruction of the «Red porch» and the improvement of the estate's courtyard for the sum 200 000 US Dollars
  • A transfer of the transit city heating main from the chamber hall of the XVII c. to the territory around the building for the sum 340 000 US Dollars

2006-2020

  • The reconstruction of the coach-house and the part of the north outhouse (destroyed in 1920-s) with the total area 2400 sq. m. for the sum 7 250 000 US Dollars

To provide the ICR with financial support for the reconstruction of the mansion, the Charitable Foundation by name of Helena Roerich launches a special project The Lopukhins's Mansion and announces the beginning of fund raising.
